Paraiso movieOver recent years, Colombia has experienced an exciting and marked growth of its film industry: from the one or two national films released each year during the 1990’

s to the dozen or so films released in 2007. Today Colombian cinema looks vibrant, healthy, and full of promise.
This exponential growth has not only been reflected in the number of productions, but, importantly, also in the quality of the films; and it is not uncommon today to see Colombian films recognised and awarded in major international festivals and markets around the world such as Cannes, Sundance, Toronto, San Sebastian, and Guadalajara. As these films increasingly travel and are seen around the globe, they carry with them an indelible expression of Colombian identity and culture.

In Colombiage, we passionately believe that this international exposure of Colombian cinema is a vital way of bringing the richness of Colombian culture to the world. The visual aesthetics and narrative resources used by Colombian directors, combine the perfect elements to relate the realities and dreams of a country that is bursting in creativity.

This year’s film programme brings internationally awarded documentaries and feature films, that will take us on a moving journey through the diverse and rich world of image and sound.
So now we invite you to sit back, relax and experience this emotional and thought provoking journey through a selection of the best of recent and contemporary Colombian cinema.
