KONTRA
Kontra is the alias of Francisco Garzón, a Graphic Designer/Artist from Cali, who studied at Universidad
del Valle, which is located in Santiago de Cali, Colombia. since the year 2003 kontra has been
working in his laboratory /studio located in Bogotá, Colombia. His work can be included in the
fields of experimental design, illustration, art, motion graphics, vj, editorial
design, brand identity and web and multimedia design.
During his work experience, he has developed different assignments, starting from educative projects for some local universities to commercial production for different companies. His work has been also related to non-profit projects, that have been made to collaborate to different groups and organizations during the development of alternative editorial projects and to participate in different design expositions like “Subversion”, “Grafica Masiva”, “Desfase“ in Colombia, Trimarchi DG 2007 in Argentina, Pimp the Type 2008 in España and Colombia Passion in Hong Kong 2008. His work can be characterized like a constant exploration in typography, textures, design, graphics and communication, taking advantage of the current information bombardment present on the streets, the media and the internet. those factors are the inspiration to develop new design proposals in print, digital formats, and manual techniques.
The work of Kontra has been published by important media, as the digital magazine “New Web Pick issue 09: Graphic Monster” from Hong Kong 2007, be/dc online magazine of Usa 2008, Oblongo e-zine # 2 Chile 2008, Joia Magazine website Chile 2009. As well as in printed publications: Latin American Graphic Design (Tashen, Germany 2008), THNK MGNT (Zeixs, Germany 2008), Lovit Guit Frens (Chile 2008), Gooo Magazine # 6 (Argentina 2008) and Logo Design Vol. 2 ( Tashen, Germany 2009).
